A journal from Padstow, Cornwall — tides, tables, walks and what's on.

The Cottage

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sea views, and a garden — on the edge of the old town.

The cottage sits on the edge of the old town — close enough to walk to the harbour, the galleries, and the handful of places worth eating at, far enough to still hear the gulls and not much else.

Downstairs, a slate-floored kitchen with a butler sink and a cottage range opens into a living room built around a wood fire and years of furniture and art we couldn't bear to leave behind. Upstairs, three bedrooms — the two at the back, including ours, wake up to the sea.

There's a proper garden at the back, big enough for lawn games and a table for outdoor dinners when the weather allows it, which in Padstow is more often than people expect. The beach is a short walk away. The Camel Trail starts practically at the door. You won't need a car.
